Grading

All quarter grades will be figured using total points.  I will calculate the number of points earned and divide by the number of points possible to calculate the percentage.  See student handbook for grading scale and semester grade calculation procedures.  Point values are approximate; I reserve the right to make changes if necessary. 

English 102

Homework/in-class assignments:  10-20 points

Quizzes (Literature quizzes, vocab tests, vitamin quizzes, etc.):  15-35 points

Tests:  40-70 points

Vitamin Spot Checks:  2 points per vitamin checked

Writing assignments/Projects:  20-50 points

Quarterly book/film reviews:  100 points

English 201/202

Four graded final drafts:  100 points each

Four check grade final drafts*:  25 points each

Vitamin Quizzes (weekly):  20-25 points

Vitamin Spot Checks:  2 points per vitamin checked

Incidental homework/in-class assignments:  10-20 points

Research Paper Final Draft:  200 points

Quarterly book/film reviews:  100 points

*For every two writing assignments done, I will grade one in its entirety.  The other will receive a partial grade called a "check" grade.  A check plus equals 100%, a check equals 80%, a check minus equals 70%.  The students will choose which paper will receive which grade. 

English 301

Homework/in-class assignments:  10-20 points

Reading Response Journal Spot Checks:  20 points
